The paper „The influence of information depth and information breadth on brokers’ idea newness in online maker communities.” was published in Research Policy.

In the paper, the authors Christian Resch and Alexander Kock empirically investigate the effect of social network position and information access on idea novelty in online communities. The results show that a central position, which provides access to many information, interacts positively with deep information; while broad information in combination with a central network position leads to information overload and thus to fewer new ideas.
